Factsheet #1: EOL Parts Dismantling and MRO
COMPASS has published a new factsheet dedicated to End-of-Life (EOL) Parts Dismantling and MRO, outlining the digital and physical workflow that transforms decommissioned components — from aerospace and automotive applications — into valuable, traceable feedstock.
The process begins with the digitalization of components, supported by a dedicated 3D Digitalization tool and a digital tool guiding the correct dismantling process. Operators are then supported step-by-step by a Dismantling Assistant, which helps manage manual cutting of large panels while capturing key data such as vehicle/aircraft type, MSN, and cutting location.
Once cut, panels move through industrial scanning and a Cutting Planner, which optimizes waterjet cutting into feedstock ready for reforming. Throughout the entire process, critical information — batch numbering, thickness, geometry, and alloy — is continuously fed into the Digital Product Passport (DPP), ensuring full traceability from the original component to the reformed material, powered by the Circularise traceability platform.
This workflow brings together six Key Exploitable Results (KERs):

Developed by AELS, Schild & Partner, AIT (Austrian Institute of Technology), PROFACTOR, LKR Ranshofen and EDAG, this solution targets End-of-Life service providers, OEMs, and MRO operators across both aerospace and automotive sectors, offering a scalable model for circularity in manufacturing.
