COMPASS Featured as a Made in Europe Success Story by EFFRA | 15 July 2026
The COMPASS project has been recognised by EFFRA as a Made in Europe Success Story, highlighting its contribution to advancing circular manufacturing and digital remanufacturing across Europe. This recognition underlines the project’s role in demonstrating how innovative technologies can help transform end-of-life products into valuable resources, supporting a more sustainable and competitive European manufacturing industry.
At the heart of COMPASS is a simple but ambitious vision: components reaching the end of their first lifecycle should not automatically become waste. Instead, by combining advanced digital technologies with innovative remanufacturing processes, they can be recovered, assessed, and reintroduced into new value chains with guaranteed quality and performance.
The project is developing an integrated framework that leverages Artificial Intelligence, Digital Product Passports, digital twins, and advanced 3D modelling to improve the identification, inspection, dismantling, remanufacturing, and certification of high-value components from the aerospace and automotive sectors. These technologies enable more efficient decision-making while reducing material consumption, energy use, and CO₂ emissions.
Beyond the technological innovations, COMPASS demonstrates how cross-sector collaboration can accelerate Europe’s transition towards a circular economy. By bringing together industrial partners, research organisations, and technology providers, the project is helping establish new remanufacturing practices that increase resource efficiency, strengthen supply chain resilience, and reduce dependence on critical raw materials.
The recognition by EFFRA places COMPASS among the flagship projects of the Made in Europe Partnership, an initiative supporting Europe’s twin green and digital transition through collaborative manufacturing research and innovation. The project contributes directly to the Partnership’s objectives of strengthening European industrial competitiveness while promoting sustainable production systems.
As COMPASS continues to develop and validate its solutions, the project is demonstrating that remanufacturing is not only an environmental necessity but also a strategic opportunity for European industry. By extending product lifecycles, preserving valuable materials, and enabling new circular business models, COMPASS is helping shape the future of manufacturing in Europe.
We are proud to see COMPASS recognised as a Made in Europe Success Story and thank EFFRA for showcasing the project’s achievements within the European manufacturing community.
Stay tuned for more updates as COMPASS continues to drive innovation towards a smarter, more circular and sustainable manufacturing ecosystem.
